Basic Information
Gwangju citizens' haven in the city, Sajik Park blends both past and present. In springtime, cherry flowers in full bloom famously entice citizens to enjoy the flower-watching picnic.
Filled with a variety of trees and flowers, the park is beautifully designed. Other attractions include over 10 steles bearing poems written by noted poets, natives of the Gwangju region from time past and present, like Im Je, Song Sun, Park Bong-woo, Lee Soo-bok, Yun Seon-do, Kim In-ryu, Kim Deok-ryeong, and more.
The park includes the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, Memorial Tower, Yeonpajeong Pavilion and Gwandeokjeong Pavilion archery ranges, and restored Sajikdan Altar. The octagonal pavilion from the old days is no longer present but, in its place, is the new observatory where viewers can watch downtown Gwangju.
